The first Nippon Challenge round this year was at Snetterton on 4th April 2009. I have pictures of:

For the first round of this, the second year of the Nippon Challenge, the weather did not look like it was going to be kind, with rain overnight and possibly in the morning. As quite a few people were running on the new Silverstone tyres, no-one had yet tried these out in the wet. An interesting day could be in store!

As it turned out, there was no rain overnight or during the day, it just looked like it was going to rain all morning. We saw the sun as race 1 was starting and then for the rest of the day.

Practice saw people trying out their cars, with only James having major problems in his bright green Evo, ending up with a hole in the side of the engine block and no further racing that day.

Races 1 and 2 saw the Evo of Tim Clark and RX7 of Maxim battling it out for the overall race win. Race 2 saw Maxim unfortunately retire, leaving Tim with an 'easy' victory. Kris Dunlop in his newly-attired bright orange Civic put in a sterling performance to win the GT250 class in both races.

The Subaru Cup entrants put in a good showing. Unfortunately series newcomer Darren Hughes had to retire after an overly adventurous overtaking manouver, which saw him trying out his rallying skills. After being pushed hard by Miles Hulford, Martin White eventually secured the wins in both races.
